Utility Maintenance Technician I
• High school diploma or GED supplemented with formal training, special courses, or self-education that is equivalent to one year of experience in industrial, commercial, and/or residential electromechanical maintenance.
• Must possess or have the ability to pass Biological Wastewater Operator Certification Exam “D” within two (2) years of hire.
• Valid South Carolina Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one is expected.
The Utility Maintenance Technician I performs work in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, motors, and pumps used in the City’s wastewater treatment plants, water production plants, pump stations, lift stations, and all other City facilities such as athletic complexes, office spaces, and community centers. The technician would be required to demonstrate progressive proficiency in the work as required on electrical equipment, instrumentation, soft starts, variable frequency drives (VFD), programmable logic controllers (PLC), SCADA, pumps, motors, and other mechanical components. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
