Event Supervisor – Performing Arts Center (25-45)

Francis Marion University and the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center (PAC) invite applications for an Event Supervisor who, under limited supervision, will coordinate most Front of House needs, liaison with PAC and FMU staff for various purposes, and will serve as rental supervisor during events and rehearsals. Will oversee catering, house managers and usher operations, and coordinate the training and hiring of student workers and community volunteers.

The Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center is a multi-purpose, multi-venue facility consisting of an 849 seat Mainstage Theater, a 100 seat Experimental Theater (Black Box) and an outdoor amphitheater. The PAC offers access to outstanding performances and presentations of professional and emerging local, national, and international groups. The PAC is home to the Department of Fine Arts Music Industry Program, the Florence Symphony Orchestra, various touring performances, community rentals, and is utilized by FMU students, school systems, public agencies, and civic organizations for events.

The Event Supervisor will report to the Director of the Performing Arts Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a Rental Supervisor for shows, events, and receptions on a rotating basis.
  • Creates and disseminates detailed supporting documents with event specifics to staff and outside users.
  • Serves as a liaison with primary residents, rental groups, guest artists, facility management and other user groups of the facility to assess their event needs and requirements.
  • Oversee Front of House staffing needs, including scheduling of house managers, student ushers, and volunteers.
  • Makes necessary arrangements with catering services and FMU departments on logistics of lobby and other spaces for dinners/receptions and implements and coordinates setups.
  • Coordinates event bar services and manages show merchandise sales.
  • Creates diagrams and floor setups with setup requirements.
  • Manages the contracting and payroll for certain contractual services, such as temporary police employment.
  • In conjunction with other staff members, evaluates and upgrades facility patron services.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • With the Director and Technical Supervisor creates a monthly schedule for event coverage. Attends monthly event support meetings with facilities, campus police, and catering services.
  • As schedule permits, serves in an event management role for some events at FMU’s University Place Gallery.
  • Is familiar with and helps enforce all patron safety issues and ADA requirements.
  • Supports PAC marketing efforts for series shows and events, as necessary.
  • Assists with light duty production needs as needed.

 State Requirements:  A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

 

FMU Preferences:  A bachelor’s degree and experience in various areas of customer service and event planning. Working within a small staff environment must be a team player and possess exceptional organizational skills. Ability to represent FMU and the Performing Arts Center in a professional manner. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including frequent nights and weekends. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other software programs is required.    

State Classification: Program Coordinator I (AH35)

Paygrade: GEN08

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work Hours:  Work schedule will vary and will include some evening and weekend hours.
